Poster, London & North Eastern Railway, Then and now, 'The Flying Scotsman', The World's Most Famous Train, 1862 - 1930, by A R Thomson, about 1930. Coloured lithograph depicting two diagonally divided images of the Flying Scotsman service. At left is a fanciful representation of the train in 1862, actually showing a much earlier locomotive from about the 1830s, with a man standing on the buffer beam and another chasing a herd of cows from the track. At right is a stylised modernist view of the Flying Scotsman in 1930, seen from a low viewpoint and lit by the glow from the firebox. Accompanying text reads "Published by the London & North Eastern Railway. Printed in England. Vincent Brook, Day & Son Ltd, Lith. London WC2"
