Stained glass panel from Gorton Works

Stained glass panel, Manchester Sheffield & Lincolnshire Railway, ex Gorton Works boardroom, Manchester, 1895, illustrating the coats-of-arms of Wrexham.

Alternative Interpretation, written by a community member with lived experience of disability, D/deafness and/or neurodivergence, as part of the Curating for Change project: "This window brought back memories of growing up near the Wrexham-Chester railway line, as I lived in a village just outside of Wrexham in North Wales. There used to be a station in our village, Rossett, which I think was closed in the 1960s. As a child I remember running up to the closed railway gates or running up and over the footbridge to stand close by as the trains thundered past. There was a signal box with a signalman who used to wave at people as they walked by; I remember watching him opening and closing those gates.”
