Plate 21 from: The Costume of Yorkshire / George Walker, 1814. After carding or 'rooing' the cloth, the preemer removed flocks from the used teasels. The preemer was an apprentice, the runner or drudge of the cloth dressing shops, employed generally to fetch and carry.
