Copper plate engraving of Savery's single engine from Bradley's Improvement of Planting and Gardening, 1726.
The engine shown, and recommended as a means of irrigation, is that erected by Savery in 1712, at Campden House, Kensington, which ‘has succeeded so well that there has not been any want of water since it has been built; it was considered to be the truest proportioned of any about London.’ See Bradley, "New Improvements of Planting and Gardening", 1717.
