Photo print No.30351, sectional arrangement 500 K.W. combination steam turbine
This drawing shows the internal construction of the form of steam turbine in which the high-pressure steam is first expanded in nozzles and passed through a compound impulse wheel of the Curtis type and then further expanded through a series of rows of blades of the ordinary Parsons reaction type. This form was introduced about 1902, and was much favoured in Continental Europe; it reduces considerably the length of the machine, obviates the use of very short high-pressure blades, and relieves the main casing from the influence of the high pressure and temperature. ) and then further expanded through a series of rows of blades of the ordinary Parsons reaction type.
