Samples of blading as used in the Metropolitan Vickers Rateau Turbine, viz:- 2 blades 1" long; 1 section of rim with 4 blades 1 1/4" long revetted on; 1 strip of shrouding

These show improved forms of the blading and nozzles used in the Rateau steam turbine. The blades are machined out of solid steel bar, and have forked-root ends that are saddled on the disc runner, where they fit closely together, and are secured by countersunk staggered rivets passing through holes drilled between them, each rivet securing two adjacent blade roots. A strip punched with holes to fit over the points completes the blading. The nozzle blocks are built up of nickel steel of angle section machined to radius and riveted together with the guides between.
