Steam Engine Indicator of the McNaught type used by G. Scholes

This is a modification of the McNaught indicator (see inv. 1897-60) made and used by Mr. G. Scholes for many years while in the employ of James Watt & Co. The improvements in detail due to Mr. Scholes consist in fitting two light steel rods working on short links which hold the pencil out of contact with the "card" until the desired moment; and in addition, a helical spring on the pencil holder to give a predetermined pressure.
