Mercurial vaccum gauge for beam engine

Mercurial vaccum gauge for beam engine built by Boulton, Watt & Co. for Reid's Brewery, Clerkenwell, 1808

This gauge, for indicating the degree of vacuum of the condenser, which drew steam from the engine's cylinder after it had worked the piston there, was fitted to the same engine as the pressure gauge inv. 1899-98, the connection with the condenser being made by a considerable length of copper pipe.
