Two safety lamps, one by Stephenson, 1842-1874, the other Clanny, dioptric lens, nickel silver, maker: J. Cooke and Son, Birmingham, 1869-1874.

Contributed by Messrs. Joseph Cooke & Co.

This differs from the ordinary Clanny lamp only in having the glass formed as a dioptric lens, so as to obtain a parallel beam of light, a construction adopted in 1853 by Mr. T. Y. Hall, and also used in America. A screw lock is fitted.
