Quik Cap for detecting electrical activity in the brain (EEG), made by Neuromedical Supplies, 2000

Made:
1990s in United States

32 channel Quik Cap, for electroencephalography (EEG) studies, made by Neuromedical Supplies, USA, c.2000.

The Quik cap is used to conduct electroencephalography (known as EEG), the process of measuring the electrical activity of the brain. EEG is widely used to research the brain and diagnose neurological conditions, including epilepsy, sleep disorders and strokes. Made by Neuromedical Supplies c.2000, the Quik cap is fitted with electrodes that detect the brain’s electrical activity. Electrode caps like this transformed the ease with which EEG could be carried out during the 1990s. They were comfortable to wear with soft and flexible material ensuring a good fit on most head sizes, and ensured electrodes were placed precisely on the scalp with sufficient contact with electrode leads discretely managed. This cap contains 32 channels, each channel corresponds to an electrode, the number of channels and electrodes can vary depending on what areas of the brain are being monitored.
