Music Lovin’ Barbie Doll by Mattel, released in 1985. A white-skinned Barbie doll with long curly hair, wearing a yellow and white outfit with white shoes. She is wearing a set of headphones connected to a ‘play stereo’, which once contained a small model of a cassette tape, which is no longer inside.

Music Lovin' Barbie was released in 1985 along with a Ken doll in the same range with matching outfit. The first personal cassette player, the Sony Walkman, was first released in 1979, and gained popularity through the early 1980s, with more brands producing portable cassette players. Although this doll's personal cassette player is unbranded, it is one in a long line of Barbie ranges which took inspiration from the new technologies of their time.
