A Free Moving Cara Doll, with black skin, brown eyes, and long black hair tied in orange ribbons. She is wearing a white and orange sports leotard, with a removable orange drop-waist skirt with a white floral pattern. There is a small lever on her back which, when moved down, loosens all of her movable joints and means that she is more flexible than regular Barbie dolls in the range. When the lever is up, she has the same level of poseability as regular Barbie dolls.

Cara was the second African American or black 'friend' in the Barbie range, after Christie. Cara and Christie never appeared in the same line together, and Cara was relatively short-lived as a character, only being produced in the 1970s.
