Previously catalogued as a black Barbie doll, this is in fact a Christie doll from the Hawaiian Fun Barbie range, released in 1990. The doll is wearing a green and pink bikini with a short length green grass “hula” skirt. She has long black hair, partly in an original sectioned ponytail.

The Christie doll, marketed as a friend of Barbie, was the first black or African-American doll made by Mattel in the Barbie range. First released in 1968, Christie was the only black or African-American doll in the Barbie range, until the first black doll actually named Barbie was released in 1980. Christie dolls have continued to feature in various Barbie ranges.
