Festival of Britain souvenir tin
- Made:
- 1951
Festival of Britain souvenir tin, 1951. Lid decorated with Festival logo. Possibly for sweets or tobacco.
The Festival of Britain was devised to inject optimism into a depressed national still struggling with austerity and rationing since the end of the Second World War. It was a triumphant display of British design, manufacture and industry, epitomised by graphic designer Abram Graham's iconic emblem which appeared on posters, catalogues and souviners such as this tin.
