Timothy Test, invented by staff at the National Institute of Industrial Psychology (NIIP), c1921-1950. Founded in 1921, the Institute brought the scientific study of work psychology to Great Britain. Through testing, they aimed to match people with certain innate skills to relevant tasks, thus making them both more productive and happier in their work. This Timothy test, made largely from Meccano, was designed to measure an applicant's suitability to work in mechanical trades.
