Precision equal-arm balance (10grain range) with beam marked, 'County Borough of Walsall' in glazed grey wooden cabinet with a black glass base. Used by inspectors for checking the accuracy of weights in the London Borough of Southwark after government re-organisation in 1974. Made by Stanton London, modified model MC5 - MC9 series without the weight loading. Serial number 25115 (on centre Knife edge support) and Verification No. 6984. The beam, support column and cylindrical air dampers all painted grey.
