Circular recording charts for a KENT C105 tide gauge
A set of circular recording charts for a KENT C105 tide gauge, likely built by Kent Industrial Measurements in the 1970s.
Tide gauges represent a broad range of instruments used for measuring changing sea levels, often around coast lines. This example is paired with a float sensor which is placed into the water, whilst the circular clock records changing sea levels using a floating pen mechanism similar to what is seen on early seismographs. This tide ‘clocks’ can be setup to record changing sea levels over different lengths of time, such as over a day, 7 days or a month.
