Ebony framed sextant
Ebony framed sextant with polished brass limb, brass index arm, wooden handle and inlaid ivory plate by Louis Paschal Casella, London, England,1862-1868. Consists of ivory inlaid scale 121° (-5° to 140°), 20’ divisions with ivory vernier, pivoted magnifier, tangent and clamping screw to the rear of the index arm and four filter shades (three red, one green). Fitted with threaded telescope and telescope (93 mm) erect image, telescope (185 mm) inverted image and sight tube (83 mm). Carries label for Agostinho de Souza Reves E Cia, Rua d' Alfandega, No. 30, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
