Bubble sextant probably made by Henry Hughes and Son Ltd, London, about 1942. Marked on the left side of the casing: A.M. | Bubble Sextant | Mark IXA. | Ref. No. 6B/218 | Brits. Pats | 480112 490621 | and pending. Marked on the right side of the casing: Serial no.8903/42. Black crackle-lacquered alloy casing incorporating artificial materials, housing optical equipment, a clockwork averaging mechanism, electrical equipment, and a rubber eyecup. No box.
