Quintant made by Gabriel Wright, London, about 1779. Ebony frame and limb with a brass index arm and fittings, a wooden handle that can be placed at a right angle to the frame. Signed on the brass scale: G. Wright London. Marked on the scale: King's Patent. Surface-mounted brass scale from -10° to 165° and vice versa every 20', measuring to 147°. Double brass vernier to 1', zeros at the right and left. The tangent screw and clamping screw are on the back of the index arm. Three shades (two red, one green); two horizon shades (red and green). Index-glass adjustment according to Gabriel Wright's patent; adjustment of the horizon glass by fixed milled screws. Threaded telescope bracket with a swivelling shutter and one pinhole; perpendicular adjustment by a rising-piece that is moved by a square-headed screw and a detached key (missing). No box.
