Stuart coin balance of 1644, 5 1/2" steel equal-arm beam, swan-neck ends, fork suspension; 1 3/4" diam. pans of copper, tin-plated and stamped "R.W", in tooled beechwood box with ornamental bronze hasp and plate, containing 9 brass coin weights of James I (1603-25) and 3 brass coin weights of Charles I (1625-49). The sliding cover of recess in box lid inscribed in ink "Bought the 23rd January 1644 by me Thomas Roper"
