19th century Gold Diggers' portable scales and weights, in brass cylindrical carrying case (7 1/4"x3 1/4" diam.) containing 5 1/4" brass balance beam and set of 8 brass weights numbered:- 1,2,4 (flat, square); 5,10,20,40,60 (round, knobbed). The two halves of case are fitted with cords and hooks to form the pans. Weights are units of 40 grains, for selling unrefined gold
