Wilkinson type folding Guinea balance by J. Mountford, c.A.D.1800, in mahogany case, 3 1/2"x1"x9/16". For guineas and 1/2 guineas only by "throw-over" weight. Slide indicates light weight zero to 12 pence "minus" value, by scale engraved on top face of beam; and "plus" value up to 4 farthings, by 4 notches cut on edge of beam between the zero and fulcrum of beam. Copied from the original Wilkinson type of 1772. (See Inv.1949-150 & 263)
