A direct digital display micrometer made by Brown and Sharpe Manufacturing Co. in 1928 to a patent of 1922; range 0 - 1".
This type of direct reading micrometer was first made in 1922. It was designed to clarify the reading of a dimension by presenting it directly as a three figure decimal part of an inch. Each column of figures is on a separate drum which is rotated from the micrometer screw of 50 t.p.i. The sleeve is marked with 20 divisions each of which represents 0.001 inch. These divisions can be used for setting up the dials and for estimating the parts of the .001 readings. Maximum capacity it 0 to 1"
