The rapid measurement of timber particularly at ports requires simple gauging of this type so as to avoid lengthy and repetitive calculations. This is a thickness gauge for timber planks. the scale indicates 3/8" to 1" in 1/8" steps and from 1" to 2" in 1/4" steps.
