Set of Mathematical instruments by D. Lusuerg, c 1701.
- maker:
- Dominicus Lusuerg

Large case of mathematical instruments by D. Lusuerg, Rome, Italy, 1701.
Set of mathematical instruments made by D Lusuerg of Rome, 1701. The range of this set of instruments is unusually extensive, from ordinary dividers to a geometric quadrant. It also includes a circle of degrees with pointers in the shape of grotesque masks, a universal sundial and a set of 'Napier's Rods'. Sets such as this would have been made to order for a wealthy client and were regarded more as an adornment and status symbol than as tools for practitioners.
