Navigational current correction calculator stamped "L.C. Bailey R.N.F.R.A.S.", made by Elliott, 30 Strand London, in case, B1937, A162116
Designed by L C Bailey of the Royal Navy and a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society, this instrument computes corrections to a ship’s course to allow for the effect of currents. The arm of the protractor is placed over the point on the semicircular scale which corresponds to the speed and direction of the current. The change in course necessary to optimise the speed of the ship can then be read off the protractor at its other end.
