Humphrey, No.18 Old Bond St [London]. - 1793. - 1print: etching, col., trimmed to platemark 35 x 42 cm. - Caricature, mainly political satirising the subscription raised for Charles James Fox after his Coalition defeat over the India Bill; featuring Charles Mahon Charles Stanhope, 3rd Earl Stanhope/3rd Lord Stanhope (1753-1816), politician and scientist; Joseph Priestley (1733-1804), theologian and scientist, Edward Hall the apothecary (secretary to the Whig Club and Charity Committee), Hall's pocket holding syringe and medicine bottle labelled W Pitt, Charles James Fox (1749-1806), Whig statesman; Richard Brinsley Sheridan (1751-1816), dramatist and parliamentary orator; Michael Angelo Taylor (circa 1757-1834), politician; John Horne Tooke (1736-1812), radical politician, philologist; all holding daggers and begging for alms, after subscription agreed at meeting at the Crown & Anchor Inn on 5 June; gas street lamp, t.r.
