Engraved handbill: 'Electro-Magnetic Telegraph on the Great Western Railway, Invented by Professor Wheatstone', unknown maker, British, 1835-1845.

Wheatstone’s ABC system was tried on William Cooke’s 1843 experimental electric telegraph on the Great Western Railway but is not believed to have been particularly successful.
