It depicts the contained fermenter in the plant room, with glass window reflections, in the Dista Products Ltd factory at Speke, Merseyside. In 1981 insulin was the first drug to be manufactured by genetic engineering, this process using artificial manipulation of genes of bacteria to produce the required chemical; manufacturer of drugs; fermentation
