[Model of HMS Victory; stern view]. / - [1744]. - Oil on canvas, 74.5x65.5cm in gilt frame, 91x82x7cm. - Unsigned, undated, no name cartouche. - Perspective painting at [not 45] degree angle. - Formerly in collection of King George III, but not a part of the series of ship model paintings he later commissioned. - Ship Establishment design proposed 1733; built Portsmouth Dockyard; technically a rebuild from frames of previous ship Royal James restarted 6 March 1726; launched 23 February 1737; 100 guns 1st Rate; lost in Casquets, English Channel, 5 October 1744 with Admiral Balchen and 1100 men
