After an oil by Sir Godfrey Kneller,1702, NPG or Petworth House. Portrait of Sir Isaac Newton (1642-1727), HS in wig and gown, looking slightly l., in feigned oval. Isaac Newton phyicist and mathematician, key figure in scientific revolution, laid the foundation for classical mechanics and made seminal contributions to optics and calculus.
