Painting. English country brickworks /, anonymous British School, c.1840, possibly by Nicholas Condy (1799-1857). Oil on canvas; 46.5x61.5cm in frame, 53x68.2x4cm. Scene of activity in an open air brickworks thought possibly to be in Enfield, Middlesex. All bricks are made by hand and fired on site in an open 'clamp'. Families are employed in all stages of the activity and in play or at their rest break
