Six photographs, sepia toned: The Cunard Line... War Work - Building Aeroplanes at Aintree, Liverpool, c1918. 25x32cm. Views of interiors of National Aircraft Factory No. 3 erected in 1917 by the Cunard Steamship Co for the construction of 500 Bristol Fighters and from February 1918 used by the Ministry of Munitions. Production began March 1918 and 126 fighters were completed there. 1. [26] Covering Room - 2. [27] Doping the wings and fusilages - 3. [32] Varnishing Room - 4. [36] Fitting and Welding - 5. [37] Tool Room - 6. [175] Fusilages and Planes dated 27/6/18. nos. 1-4 are of women working.
