1914 star, bronze, awarded to Private J.S. Munro, R.A.M.C.awarded to members of the British expeditionary force, 5 August 1914 to midnight 22 November 1914, British, 1914, awarded only for service in France or Belgium during WW1. Colloquially known as the Mons star and 'Pip'. The obverse is a four-pointed star with a crown ensign, two crossed swords (or gladii) with a wreath of oak leaves and the royal cypher of King George V. A central scroll is inscribed AUG 1914 NOV. The reverse is stamped with the name and unit of the ricipient. [The ribbon is red, white and blue silk.]
