Tecota Mk.6 trilene inhaler, for use in midwifery, with case, made by Cyprane Ltd., Keighley, Yorkshire, 1970-1978
Used by mothers during childbirth, the anaesthetic Trilene (trichloroethylene) was inhaled through a face mask attached to the rubber tubing and the vaporising chamber. The Trilene was poured into the chamber to be turned into a vapour.
The machine was used in the obstetric wards at University College Hospital, London. Trilene was introduced in the 1940s and is sometimes still used today. The machine was made by Cyprane Ltd.
