3-D model of a skull of a female patient with the genetic disease Treacher Collins syndrome, London, England, 1999
- maker:
- University College London
A 3-D model of a skull of a female patient with the genetic disease Treacher-collins. As a result of this condition sections of the skull under the eyesocket have not formed properly. Skull does not have titanium plates connected to replace bone.
The model on the right shows a female skull with Treacher Collins’ syndrome. The genetically inherited disease means the lower jaw and cheek bones are underdeveloped, causing other problems with the bones of the face. The model is highly detailed and was possibly made by using laser print technology. It is shown here with a model of a skull showing treatment for the disease (2001-211).
