Coin inner disc cupro-nickel, outer circle nickel-brass; 28.40mm diameter, weight 12gms. Coin edge inscription: Wireless bridges the Atlantic: Marconi 2001. Reverse design by Robert Evans, features wireless waves in centre and outer border; a spark of electricity links zeros of the date and generates a radiating series of three dots indicating Morse code letter S and representing the signal successfully transmitted 1800 miles across the Atlantic Ocean on 12 December 1901 from Guglielmo Marconi's station at Poldhu Cornwall to St John's Newfoundland
