Nobel Prizes: 1901-2001 celebrating 100 years of the Nobel Prizes. Set of 6 stamps in Presentation Pack No 327, issued by Royal Mail [Consignia], UK Post Office, on 2 October 2001. 11.5x22cm. Design by HGV Design. Each stamp, representing each prize, is produced by a different printing method. - 1st: Economic Sciences (lithography with intaglio, printing in tradition of engraved banknotes). - 2nd: Chemistry (thermochromatic ink, heat from finger changes image to show ion inside Carbon 60 molecule - discovered by Sir Harold Kroto, NP 1996). - E [Europe]: Peace (lithography with embossed white dove imitating texture of peace treaty between nations). - 40p: Physiology or Medicine (lithography 'scratch and sniff' impregnated with gelatine microcapsules producing eucalyptus smell when scratched). - 45p: Literature (TS Eliot, NP 1948, poem Ad-dressing of Cats microprinted, letters 0.1mm high). - 65p: Physics (lithography with holographic foil with image of atomic symbol, boron molecule, in homage to hologram inventor Denis Gabor NP 1971).
