Reseau grid (160 x 160 mm), by P. Gautier, Paris, in passe-partout frame with wooden box. A silvered glass graticule plate with 130mm grid of 2mm lines to imprint a reference scales on glass photographic plates. Used at the University of Oxford Observatory for the 'Carte du Ciel', the first detailed international photographic survey of the night sky. The plate is marked, 'P. Gautier / No.65', 1884-1890.
