Set of 'Britain's First Decimal Coins' issued by the Decimal Currency Board 1960s in advance of and heralding Decimal Day Monday 15 February 1971. Comprising three bronze coins (half, one and new penny) and two cupro-nickel coins (5 and 10 new penny), fitted in card within blue plastic wallet 13x9cm opening to 13x17.5cm. With second card inset describing coins designed by Arnold Machin obverse, Christopher Ironside reverse, and setting timetable from 1968 for phased introduction of metric coinage system which 'breaks away from a system of counting coins dating back to Anglo Saxon times'
