Poster, reproduction of Indian State Railways, Visit India, Benares by W S Bagdatopoulos (William Spencer Bylityilis), originally published in about 1930. Offset coloured lithograph depicting a view of a ghat in Benares (Varanasi) in Uttar Pradesh. Steps lead from the River Ganges to temples above. There is a boat crowded with passengers, and groups of pilgrims, bathers and holy men on the steps and platforms above, some of them shielded by large straw parasols. Text above and below the illustration, with a large yellow diamond in the bottom right corner for the insertion of overprinted text, with the words "The Times of India Press" below. Reprinted by Visoni, 27 9/16 x 19 11/16 inches.
