Print. Horisontorium / London Pubd by I Dickinson 114 New Bond St April 1822. - Lithograph, handcol.; 28.5x22cm with sewn attached, paper viewing flap 8x4cm. Optical device, similar to anamorphosis, jobbing printing aimed at mass market. Scene of roadside cottage behind church tower, woman and child at door, barking dog, two cows, chickens on roof, soldiers nearby, trees, garden pond etc, etc, all drawn in distorted perspective. Viewing point centrally marked. The viewer peers through a hole in the flap, put upright, keeping the image flat, to view 3-D effect.
