Early enlarger using daylight as light source. Enlargements were made by working diractly onto a sheet of bromide paper from a negative or on a dry plate. Designed to enlarge negatives up to 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 on to a plate 1/1. Fitted with a simple meiscus lens which is used as the enlarging lens. The base of the enlarger is missing. Mahogany with leatther bellows. With wooden darkslide. William Middlemiss, c.1890.
