Given as part of the ‘Go as you Please’, Curating for Change, exhibition project: “A few weeks ago, actually! We went up on the Settle and Carlisle line to Dent and Garsdale and Appleby – so I did pause for thought at England’s highest station, Dent. And I had a wheel around all the way up there. There’s a disused nuclear bunker there, near the station, in the middle of nowhere, it’s surreal, being in this beautiful landscape. I can see random and remote, beautiful and surreal places that I would never be able to get to without the railway and I get to experience those places. It’s not always easy in my wheelchair, but it’s worth it. And it really surprises people when I turn up at these kinds of places, I quite like doing that and surprising those people.”
