BBC Microcomputer Model B (Serial Number: 50557868) by Acorn computers, UK, 1986

The British Broadcasting Corporation Microcomputer System, or BBC Micro, was designed and built by Acorn Computers between 1981 and 1994 for the government-backed BBC Computer Literacy Project. This multi-sided project aimed at preparing people for the perceived imminent changes brought about by microprocessors and home computers. The BBC Micro was at the heart of this ambitious programme of education, supported by TV and radio programmes, publications, software and courses. Around 80% of British schools had a BBC Micro, introducing a generation of schoolchildren to computers and the creativity of programming. The legacy of Acorn and BBC Micro lives on in the microprocessor design company, ARM whose processors are used in all classes of computing devices, including smartphones, servers and the world’s fastest supercomputer, Fugaku.
