Highlighter pencils in cardboard holder, British, 2002

Highlighter pencils in cardboard holder, manufactured from wood and flourescent 'lead' to replace the usual plastic and felt-tip used, from Recycled Paper Supplies Ltd., Kenilworth, Warwickshire, England, 2002.

The highlighter pencils from Recycled Paper Supplies Ltd. are an excellent demonstration of sustainable, low-impact design that both serve a design purpose and portray an environmental conscious aesthetic.

These highlighter pencils are manufactured from FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)-certified wood and have a fluorescent 'lead' made of non-toxic pigments which are a bio-degradable replacement to the usual plastic and felt-tipped highlighter markers.

Highlighter pencils solved a major problem for archivists and researchers working near delicate materials, by allowing them to still highlight without worrying about bleeding ink.

This set includes four fluorescent colours (pink, yellow, green, and orange). They are designed to be long-lasting and never dry out. As the highlighters are overtly wooden they visually demonstrate that consumer’s interest in participating in an environmentally friendly aesthetic.
