The drawing depicts the Yorkcats, called Yorkatt and Eric, which regularly appeared in the York Evening Press (later York Press). The cats were modelled on the artist's pet cats, Tink and Eric.

This 2003 cartoon by Wolf (Richard Stansfield) depicts two cats in railway uniform. They are the Yorkcats, which regularly featured in the York Evening Press (later the York Press) newspaper. The cartoon was made in recognition of York's role as a railway centre and of the National Railway Museum, which is based in York. The cats, Yorkatt and Eric, are modelled on the artist's pet cats, Tink and Eric.
