Engraving, steel, handcoloured, on paper sheet cut into 16 segments and mounted for folding into clothbound gilt lettered book cover; sheet 62x50.2cm folding to 17.5x14cm. Game, in 64 pictorial scenes, with a central bullseye numbered: 65 Centre of Knowledge. Scenes arranged in 16 interfiled slices each with four pictures. continents: Europe, Asia, Africa, America. elements: Earth, Air, Fire, Water. sciences: Electricity, Chemistry, Optics, Astronomy. seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter. With native peoples and scenes of mining, thunder, telegraph, rainbow, balloon and parachute, windmill, scientific lecturing, Rosse telescope at Birr Castle, Thames Tunnel, lantern show. At top: Victoria and Albert in framed roundels. Beneath: figures of knowledge, science and art.
