Collection of stamps cards and covers illustrating the development of international air post 1870-1950 / amassed by Miss Winifred Penn-Gaskell. 78: Microphotographed airgraphs, mainly personal to and from active Allied Forces 1942-1945. 306 items, many illustrated; some envelopes; including: Polish Forces, Christmas greetings, and letters from Egypt, Suez Canal, Iraq, Middle East, India, Canada, Australia etc; illustrated V-Mail and Seabees, including the first Christmas 'X-Mail' of 11 November 1942; some items give insight into Miss Penn-Gaskell's collecting; many letters to and from Newport, Wales, their contents poignant.
